About Me

About Me

My name is Mubashra Sohail and I’m a Computer Science and Linguistics graduate from the University of Illinois Chicago with an interest in software development, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and solving real-world problems through technology. This portfolio is where I share what I’m learning, what I’m building, and how I approach technical challenges.

Driven by Curiosity

I’ve always enjoyed figuring out how things work. Whether it’s building a machine learning model, creating a dashboard, learning a new programming language, or exploring AI tools, I learn best by experimenting. My favorite projects usually start with a question, an idea, or a problem that needs solving.

That curiosity has led me to work on projects involving machine learning, natural language processing, Power BI dashboards, SwiftUI applications, and AI evaluation frameworks. Every project teaches me something new about technology, problem-solving, and the importance of continuous learning.

Systems Thinking & Problem Solving

One thing I enjoy most about technology is understanding how different pieces connect together. My background in analytics, operations, and software development has taught me to look beyond individual tasks and think about the larger system. Whether I’m analyzing data, improving a process, evaluating an AI model, or building a new application, I enjoy identifying patterns, finding root causes, and creating solutions that are practical, reliable, and easy to understand.

Building with AI Responsibly

Through the AI Leaders program, I’ve explored prompt engineering, AI evaluation, agentic systems, and AI ethics. I believe AI is a powerful tool for learning, productivity, and innovation, but it works best when paired with human judgment, critical thinking, and accountability. I use AI to brainstorm ideas, improve workflows, and accelerate learning, but I believe the responsibility for understanding, validating, and improving the final result always belongs to the person using it.

Looking Ahead

Right now, I am focused on continuing to grow as a developer while expanding my knowledge of artificial intelligence, software engineering, and emerging technologies. My goal is to build technology that is both useful and trustworthy while continuously learning from new challenges, projects, and experiences. This portfolio represents that journey—what I’ve learned so far, what I’m working on now, and where I hope to go next.

Career Goals

My primary career goal is to pursue a role as an AI / Machine Learning Analyst, where I can apply my background in Computer Science and Linguistics to evaluate, improve, and support trustworthy AI systems. I am particularly interested in opportunities that combine machine learning, data analytics, and human-centered design to help people make better decisions.

Through projects such as Prompt Sensitivity MVP, Investment Analytics Models, and my AI Leaders work, I have developed an interest in model evaluation, responsible AI adoption, and human-in-the-loop decision-making. These experiences have reinforced my belief that the most effective technologies augment human judgment rather than replace it. From a financial perspective, my goal is to achieve long-term independence while continuing to grow my technical expertise. The living wage benchmark for my area provides a foundation, while my long-term target is to build a career that creates value through reliable, transparent, and impactful AI solutions. As I continue learning and developing professionally, I hope to contribute to organizations that prioritize innovation, trust, and responsible technology development.
